Boogie Nights (1997)

With his second feature film "Boogie Nights" Paul Thomas Anderson created a brillant, profound study of life in the porno industry of the 70s and 80s. The first thing to say is that this film is itself not in any way pornographic, but rather a very detailed and realistic portrait, that is very factual and comes along without being overly obscene.

Crazy Heart (2009)

Before I start - if you are into country (/blues/rock) or maybe even into guitar playing you'll probably enjoy this film even more because you can also connect more than others to its musical content. There is one unwritten rule if you are learning to play the guitar. "If what you play feels/sounds right, it is right". This is exactly what this picture is like. It's like the good old pentatonic scale. The notes may sound familiar but with good execution always work.

Pan's Labyrinth (2006)

Once upon a time there was a movie, so sublime, about realms of beauty, grace and pride to find shelter from the world outside. About war and death and cruelty, about fear and trust and lies. About evil creatures, fairies and a princess in disguise. But beware and think twice ... this is not made for children's eyes.
