Next up is what I expected to be a ride into hell but it just became a hell of a bad movie. A "horror" trip that was just horrible. I am talking about "Session 9", a 2001 film by Brad Anderson.

Inception (2010)


A movie of dreams and a dream of a movie. It's said that Christopher Nolan (one of the hottest directors out there today) spent 10 years writing "Inception". The (arguably) best movie of 2010 was the wake-up call not only for a lousy movie year that summer but also for all the big mainstream Hollywood productions that were reminded that a big blockbuster does not have to be dull to find a mass audience. Here is a movie that knows to entertain on a big budget and still respects its viewers' intelligence.

Dear Wendy (2005)


"Dear Wendy" is a pretentious film about some outcasts who form a secret group that tries to praise gun ownership and pacifism at the same time. While their little club with its pathetic rules and customs seems to improve their lives and empower their characters it is just a matter of time until things start to go wrong. The film probably also tries to pick up the controversial theme of gun ownership in America particularly.

The Guard (2011)


Due to the fact that "The Guard" was written and directed by John Michael McDonagh - brother of Martin McDonagh (In Bruges) - I was waiting for this film for a long time. But it did not entirely live up to my expectations.
